Gifsicle

The GIF engine is Gifsicle 1.92 by Eddie Kohler and contributors, including Kornel Lesiński for lossy compression. It is compiled to WebAssembly and distributed under GPL-2.0. The engine runs locally in a dedicated browser worker.

Browser build

We use the embedded worker from gifsicle-wasm-browser@1.5.19 by renzhezhilu. The wrapper is MIT licensed; the embedded Gifsicle engine retains its GPL license. Our preparation script extracts the embedded worker without changing it, allowing cancellation and local hosting.
